07-13 Past Week Spending

July 17th, 2014 at 02:03 am

My weekly spending was way under budget this past week mainly because I was blind sided with a bout of sciatica. It caused a halt to most shopping, because of the pain shooting down from my back into my right leg.

The pain became so unbearable, it caused a trip to the Emergency Room, then to two other doctors. Hopefully, the new meds I am taking now will help it subside. I am just now getting able to go back to work after missing a week. Fortunately I have already met my medical deductible and annual out of pocket caps, so the 3 doctors, six x-rays, and the ER visit won't cost me anything.

But this has also interfered with my diet and exercise regimen, and temporarily put a halt to riding my new bicycle. Hopefully, I'll be back in the saddle soon.

I hope you feel better soon. Have you seen a chiropractor? Everyone I know with sciatica has found help by going to one.

@creditcardfree: Not yet, but it is a possibility. This last doctor I saw on Monday wants to see if these drugs are going to do anything first. Thanks!

Sciatica is terrible - I've always had it on and off, but it was especially bad when I was pregnant. My chiropractor helped, but I think what helped it more than anything was stretching multiple times a day. If you google it I bet you can find some good stretches that will help!

Stretching especially the hip flexors might help. I hope you feel better soon.

Thanks everyone! I googled stretching exercises for sciatica, and printed out various ones from a few different websites. I will start out with a few of them as soon as the nerve pain subsides a little more. I will also be done with steroidal dosage pack in two more days. So maybe by this weekend I can conservatively begin a stretching routine.

Good plan, take it slow if needed.
